DIRECTIVE TO MEDIA AND PUBLIC REGARDING POLLING PLACE LOCATION CHANGES

As facilities continue to close on a daily basis, the Cook County Clerk’s Office is urging all who seek up-to-date information to go to the Clerk’s website and obtain information about their polling place directly from the source, and to be wary of any rumors that cannot be verified on CookCountyClerk.com.

All polling place locations, if changed, are immediately entered into CookCountyClerk.com’s web database, ensuring that real-time changes are quickly pushed to the public. At the end of each day, a running list of polling place relocations will be placed on this updates page.

The Office is asking the media to help get the word out in advance for known relocations, and how voters can find out the latest polling place locations.

INFORMATION FOR VOTERS

If polling places or precincts do not open on Election Day, or close early, the Clerk’s Office will move the polling place to the nearest practicable location. That information will be immediately available on our website, and signage will be placed at the old location. Voters who want to vote on Election Day are urged to search their address at CookCountyClerk.com before heading to a polling place.

INFORMATION FOR THE MEDIA
During these challenging times, the Office is asking reporters and journalist who seek data or statistics to first check CookCountyClerk.com. All day-by-day turnout numbers, and historic turnout numbers, are posted there first, and will be obtained more quickly than by sending an email asking for a response.

The Clerk’s Office is asking for the media’s understanding during a time of high-volume requests (that are, in many cases, exactly the same across multiple news outlets.)
